Living a Charmed Life
By Victoria Moran
Let me be clear from the outset. “Living a Charmed Life” is written for women. The design and tone of “Living a Charmed Life” is geared in every way to appeal to the overworked and stressed-out women of the modern era. Of course men are just as worn out as women are, and therein lies the opportunity for everyone to glean some tidbits from this book.
Author Victoria Moran writes in a very conversational tone, and keeps her chapters short and pithy. Each chapter begins with a warm sentiment and expands on that idea for several pages, concluding with a “Lucky Charm”, which is essentially a homework assignment to put the chapter’s concepts in motion. I could easily see this book being read quickly, or digested by chapter every evening before you head to bed.
Moran’s messages are primarily about slowing down and smelling the roses. Chapter titles like, “Start a serendipity log”, “Become surprisingly fit”, “Claim a café” and “Do the cosmic two-step” give you an idea of the nature and breadth of the subjects in “Living a Charmed Life”. There’s a lot of territory covered in this book as there are fifty chapters and there is a good deal of diversity in the topics.
“Living a Charmed Life” is a roadmap to re-discovering the basic things in life. If you’re the type of person who eats coffee grounds because you don’t have the time to brew coffee, or you can’t remember the last time you took ten minutes to do something for yourself, then Victoria Moran has given you fifty chapters of ideas how to slow down and refocus on the important stuff. Professional women and full time mothers in particular will find gems here, and this book is written with them in mind, but I can think of some men that would benefit from Moran’s simple philosophies as well.
